Hiking up above the Pacific Ocean with my watercolor equipment, it is easy to find a great view for a watercolor. In this watercolor, I capture the chaparral growing on the hillside. The colors of the native plants are rich in the cool of the spring. Blue green sage contrasts with the green ceanothus. The Sedona colors of the path winds up hill for your eye to travel.

This oil is done from a plein air watercolor that was painted in 1989.

Hiking the trails of the Lower Arroyo in Pasadena,California, I came upon some native plants with colors I had not seen in a while.They stopped me in my tracks. This is my humble attempt at capturing Nature’s beauty.

I painted the irises to practice new painting techniques that I’ve learned. Plein air in my backyard is easier then carrying my equipment on a hike!

Painting the old oaks in the Crestridge Ecological Reserve was a great way to celebrate Earth Day 2010 in El Cajon, CA
